About our

Phono Preamplfiers

Although a phono stage seems like a simple piece of equipment, designing one that works well is quite challenging. First, the signal generated by your phono cartridge is very low, and the phono stage needs to amplify it. Also, that signal must pass through an EQ filter to correct the limitations of vinyl records. Only then does the signal move to the preamplifier, where you can enjoy your music. What does that mean to you? You need a phono stage with a well-built power supply that uses high-tolerance components to get the most out of your vinyl rig. Why? A good power supply offers a lower noise floor, allowing more of the signal to go through the phono stage without distortion. High-tolerance components perform the EQ filtering correctly and according to specifications. Good power supplies and high-tolerance components can be expensive. The key to selecting the right phono stage is to figure out what is "good enough." A costly turntable set-up extracts a fantastic amount of music from the groove, and a phono stage needs to handle it. That costs money. But most folks do not require that level of performance, and a moderately priced phono stage from a good manufacturer will work just fine for their purposes. We offer high-performance phono stages at all price levels. We are analog experts and can match a phono stage to meet your unique needs.
